Welcome and thank you for visiting the official website of Public Service Commission of Central Provincial Council, Sri Lanka.
The Provincial Council system was established in Sri Lanka in the year 1988 under the 13th Amendment to the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the functions of the Central Provincial Public Service Commission have been commenced on the 14th July 1988 . The Central Provincial Public Service Commissionauthority Area Consists of three Administrative Districts , Namely Kandy , Matale and Nuwara Eliya.

To promote a disciplined, efficient & effective, innovative and excellent provincial public service required for rendering a dedicative service to the community of Central province. |
The main servies provided by Public Service Commission CPC are:
- Preparation and amendments of Service Minutes, Recruitment & Promotion Schemes and Transfers procedures and forward them for the recommendation of Hon. Governor’s
- Conduct all recruitment examinations, Efficiency Bar examinations, Departmental examinations and Promotions Examinations for the officers of Central provincial Public Service
- Exercise the Power of Appointments, confirmation in service, promotions, extension and retirement of officers of Central provincial Public Service which are delegated by Hon. Governor
- Inter Ministries and inter provincial transfers and releases to Central Government.
- Absorption of Central Government and other provincial Councils officers and employees to Central provincial Public Service
- Act as an Appellate Authority of those who are aggrieved by the decisions taken by its delegated authorities in relation to appointment, promotion, transfer, disciplinary control and dismissal.

Central provincial public service Commission is an institute comprising of not less that 03 commission members appointed by Central provincial Hon. Governor and a Secretary as per paragraph 32, 32 of Provincial Council act No. 42 of 1987 which is revised by Provincial Council act No. 28 of 1990. It was established in year 1989. Powers possessed by the Hon. Governor in respect of the appointments of officers and cadres for Central Provincial Public Service, transfers, retirements, disciplinary actions and functioned as an Appellate Authority have been delegated to Public service Commission, Chief Secretary, Secretaries to relevant Ministries and Heads of Departments as per provisions in delegation of powers No. 28 of 1990.
